Super Women

By UH-60 Sweetheart

I am a mother, a wife, a friend, a volunteer, and finally, after what seems like years of waiting, I am a student. I have finally started full time classes again to work towards my RN.

For reals. I’m so excited, and yet, so terrified at the same time. After all, how in the world can I possibly deal with a PCS move, 3 kids, a husband who is constantly flying around in the sky, pets, and that little thing called “taking care of yourself”, all while pursuing an education.

In fact, as we speak, my husband is flying over our house and my kids are NOT going to sleep….at all. It seems at times that I have bitten off more than I can chew, and occasionally, I just want to ignore my school work and studying and lay down on the couch to watch Golden Girls. (Which by the way is my fave show.)

But then, at my who gives a crap lower than low attitude, I am reminded of a friend who has been in my shoes before. I hate to sound too middle school, but she is my BFF. She finished nursing school while taking care of her 2 kids all while her husband was in Iraq. Of course, she had the usual goings on during the deployment to deal with as well.

You know what I’m talking about…the house falling apart, a daughter with pneumonia, and her own health took a turn for the worse. But, somehow, she made it thru and is now very successful. It amazes me how many women there are like her are out there…just off the top of my head, I can probably name 6 or 7 that I know personally.

Whether you are a military wife or not, going after something you really want all while dealing with daily life is an amazing feat. When I look at what I want to accomplish, I realize that this is just one more challenge that living an Army life has presented me with….and I plan on kicking it’s tail. We are a different breed of woman. We are  no-nonsense, get it done kinda gals. Women who fold camouflage while drinking our wine and dreaming of what strappy, sparkly, shoes we can buy on the next pay day. I am glad to say that I have joined the sorority…the sorority of Military Wives…or, as I like to call them, “Super Women“.

LOVE this! You’re right, we all know so many of these women who seem to have accomplished more than a 24 hour day could possibly allow. One day I’m gonna be one of those women, too. Still trying to work through some logistics, but I’ll live vicariously through you and my friends in the interim! Go get ‘em, girl!

Is this inspiration or WHAT! Many of us “dream” of doing that one thing for ourselves; school, travel, career, retiring on an island with someone serving us beverages as we gaze across that blue green clear water on an Island somewhere. And then I read a blog like this! WOW! It does happen! You GO Super Woman! You inspire me.. Thank you!!
